Nail Art ~ Born Pretty Store Plate #025

Today I have another review of a Born Pretty Store stamping plate. This plate is #BPL-025. This is a large plate with lots of various animal images on it including dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, bats, and even seahorses.

I chose this plate specifically for the dog themed images. In case you haven’t noticed by now I am totally dog crazy. And this mani shows it! 🙂

How I created this look:

I started with a base color of Daily Hues Nail Lacquer Amelie. This was the perfect base color as it’s not just a pure white, it has little gold microglitters in it so its so beautiful for nail art. For my accent nail (middle finger) I used a base color of Pahlish La Derniere Reine, which coordinates beautifully with Daily Hues Amelie.

For the images I chose to make decals using my GP Stampers. I stamped the outline of the images using MdU Black. Once this was dry I painted one thick coat of HK Girl over the outline stamping images on my stampers, this helps to keep your polish from running when you’re filling in with color. When that was dry I started painting in the bones on my decals. The paw prints were solid so they just rain black. For the bones I used the following 4 colors interchangeably between decals. I wanted the bones to appear completely random so I switched up which bones were painted with which colors.
Zoya Purity
Zoya Taylor
Zoya Spencer
Pahlish La Derniere Reine

After everything was filled in I painted one more coat of HK Girl and allowed my decals to dry completely before pulling them off the stampers.

Once they were dry enough to pull off I trimmed down the excess decal with a pair of nail scissors. I painted a layer of HK Girl over the nail and waited about 30 seconds till it was just tacky to position my decal on the nail. I held it in place until it was firmly affixed to my nail and painted one more coat of HK Girl to seal it. I then took my Kolinsky brush and acetone to clean off any extra decal around the edges. I finished the look off with a coat of Zoya Matte top coat.

I’m very pleased with how this mani came out. The plate was nicely etched and gave me virtually no problems. Born Pretty Store plates are very reasonably priced with good quality.
