Zoya Jelly Brites Trio ~ Summer 2018

My very first “favorite polish” was Zoya Diana back in 2012. I had recently discovered Zoya and was in the process of what would become a collection that consists of every Zoya made since 2007. At the time it was still a far cry from what it is today but 50 bottles seemed like a gigantic collection back then! My very first favorite came in the form of Zoya Diana, a lovely super shiny and somehow “squishy” classic red polish. At the time I didn’t know enough about polish to even know it was formulated differently, I just knew I loved the shiny depth it offered. A couple years later when I saw a jelly polish referred to as shiny and squishy I knew right away that was what that coveted bottle of Zoya Diana was. I immediately set out to get my hands on all the jelly polish. That was the beginning of my love for jelly polish, and I still love it just as much today. So it is with much excitement I bring you Zoya’s most recent Jelly Brites Trio.

Each of these applied beautifully and are easy to work with. They do have the semi sheer finish that is characteristic of jellies, but with that comes the depth and shine that can only be achieved with jellies too. Aside from regular color manis there are many things to do with jellies. A jelly sandwich is quite popular, which consists of 2 coats of color then a coat of glitter followed by another coat of color. Pond manis, although time consuming, are a lot of fun. They are achieved by adding stamping or dotting on each of multiple layers giving some of the items more depth than others. Imagine a blue jelly polish with various fish stamped within each layer giving it a “pond” type look. (If you can’t imagine click here cause I went allll the way back to find it!) But my favorite use of jellies is leadlighting, a technique where you color in a stamped image, often a reverse image to give your mani a stained glass effect. Leadlighting is what I decided to do with this trio so check back tomorrow to see that mani!
