My Favorite Top Coats

You’ve asked for it and here it is.. My Favorite Top Coats!

I usually have a number of top coats on hand, all for different types of manis, but these three are my cant-live-with-out-top-coats! I will go over each and what they are best used for. All are fast dry, with about the same dry time. This post will not go over wear time, as lets be honest here.. I never wear a polish long enough to give it a chance to wear off or chip! 🙂 I have read in other posts though that they all have very similiar wear times (3-4 days depending on how tough you are on your nails)

HK Girl Glisten & Glow: I always reach for this one when I do nail art. There is little worse than getting the perfect design then having your top coat smear and streak it. I can always count on HK Girl to give me a streak free shiny finish on nail art. For this one I apply after about 30 seconds so my designs have had a little chance to set.
This top coat is not 3-Free (no formaldehyde or formaldehyde resin and no toluene, does contain Dibutyl Phthalate)
Retails for $6.95 (0.5 oz.) at http://glistenandglow.bigcartel.com. Not available in stores.

Seche Vite (SV): Seche Vite is a nice thick top coat that I use to smooth out glitter polishes that are just a little too rough for my taste. (I love a nice smooth mani, and am definitely not one for much texture.) The downside to SV is it gets thick and goopy towards the last 1/3 of the bottle. Seche Restore will take care of this but it’s kind of a pain. Many people report shrinkage with SV, but it hasn’t been a big problem for me. Apply when polish is wet, after about 30 seconds. Do not apply when polish is dry, it can peel off in sheets.
Seche Vite is NOT 3-Free (no formaldehyde or formaldehyde resin and Dibutyl Phthalate, does contain toluene)
Can be purchased at Sally Beauty Supply or most drug stores and retails for about $7.99 (0.5 oz.)
INM Out the Door (OTD): Out the Door is my everyday go to top coat. No nail art, etc., just your basic every day mani. It’s a little thinner than SV but it doesn’t get thick or goopy towards the end of the bottle, and doesn’t cause any shrinkage. I buy Out the Door in the big bottles (2 oz. or 4 oz.) because I use it that much. It is definitely my choice for every day use. Can be applied wet or dry.
Out the Door is 4-Free (free of Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Toluene, Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde Resin).
Can be purchased at Sally Beauty Supply and most drug stores and retails for about $5.49 (0.5 oz.) I usually purchase the 2.0 oz. for around $12 on ebay or amazon.

A couple others I like to have around to smooth out very chunky glitters or texture polish.
