Essie Neons 2015

By now you have likely seen some swatches of this years Essie Neons. I’ve been a little on the fence about these as they weren’t really striking me as very neon. I decided the colors were quite pretty regardless. I’ve been purchasing a number of Essie collections lately, and have been quite enjoying them, so I decided to take the plunge on these as well. So let’s take a look…

Coacha’ Bella
Coacha’ Bella is a vivid fuschia pink. It dries to a semi matte finish, and the formula was a little on the thin side. My swatches are 3 full coats with OTD top coat.

All Access Pass
All Access Pass is a vivid indigo creme. Again the formula was a little on the thin side and required 3 full coats for opacity. It dries to a semi matte finish, and is shown below with OTD top coat.

Vibrant Vibes
Vibrant Vibes is a neon version of a lime green creme. I had a little trouble with application initially. I used a white base with this one and the first coat was quite streaky and uneven, but it cleaned up nicely on the second coat, and the top coat evened it out well. Overall, this is my favorite color out of this collection. I love lime greens, and the color pay off is totally worth it.

Groove is in the Heart
Groove is in the Heart is an electrified baby pink creme. It’s much brighter on the nail than it appears in the bottle, so I was quite surprised with how vibrant it really is. The formula on this one was a bit thin, but workable. My swatch below is 3 thin coats with OTD top coat.

Make some Noise
Make some Noise is a vivid cyan creme. This greenish-blue is actually quite unique to my collection. It did stain my cuticles though, which is definitely a knock against it. The swatch below is 2 coats with OTD top coat.

Melody Maker
Melody Maker is a vibrant teal green creme. This is brighter in person than it came across in my pictures. It is really a beautiful bright color. My swatch is 2 coats with OTD top coat.

Pros: Beautiful vibrant colors, many are unique although they don’t necessarily feel like it initially. Full opacity or near full opacity in 2 coats on most.

Cons: A few of these don’t really strike me as true neon. Also a few were quite thin, so definite potential for flooded cuticles.

My Thoughts: Overall I like this collection well enough. I personally would pass on Coacha’ Bella and All Access Pass, they really don’t have much to offer in themselves, but in my opinion the other 4 are worth the buy.
