Orly Sunset Strip Collection ~ Holiday 2016

Christmas is almost over… oops I meant Christmas is almost here! Regardless of which way you lean, it’s almost here and almost over. Unfortunately I haven’t looked forward to Christmas in many years, but luckily I still look forward to the holiday polish collections. I picked up the Orly Sunset Strip collection a few months ago, and it’s been waiting patiently for me to swatch it. I’m legit  psyched that I got it in before Christmas! But just barely. 😊

Orly Sunset Strip Collection

Orly Sunset Boulevard
Orly Sunset Boulevard
Sunset Boulevard is described as a red glitter polish. This is definitely your classic christmas red. Unfortunately it still shows quite a bit of VNL on me after 3 coats. I suspect part of that is my crazy visible nail line, other swatches I checked looked more opaque.

Orly The Who’s Who
Orly The Who's Who
The Who’s Who is described as a blue creme polish. I find it leans a bit more indigo though. A beautiful deep shade.

I’m wearing 3 coats with glossy top coat. Still some slight VNL at 3 coats. I love this shade, but I feel like you could find something very close thats opaque in 2 coats.

Orly Up All Night
Orly Up All Night
Up All Night is described as a silver shimmer polish. It has a definite slate grey feel to it too though.

The formula was fantastic, fully opaque in 2 simple coats. My swatches show 2 coats plus glossy top coat.

Orly Last Call
Orly Last Call
Last Call is described as a magenta shimmer polish. The shimmer is a soft pink/lavendar which gives it a gorgeous color shift when the light catches it.

My swatches show 3 coats with glossy top coat. Again some VNL, but not enough to bother me.

Orly Celebrity Spotting
Orly Celebrity Spotting
Celebrity Spotting is described as a purple creme polish with pinkish gold shimmer. It is definitely one of my favorites from this collection. I’m wearing 2 coats here with glossy top coat.

Orly Invite Only
Orly Invite Only
Invite Only is described as a green creme polish. I wanted to love this one, I really did. I was so convinced this would just need 2 coats. I quickly applied 2 coats, a quick dry top coat and started snapping pictures. But..  VNL! I applied one more coat of color and another coat of glossy top coat.. and still some VNL! Ugh. I love the color, but I probably have a dozen dupes that are just 2 easy coats.

So I love the colors and finishes, despite most being very common among lots of other collections. And only a couple of these could get by with 2 coats, with the majority still showing at least some VNL at 3 coats. Overall I’m not as excited about this collection as I was at first. Le sigh. I still love you though Orly, I’m looking forward to a spring redemption.

Until next time, stay polished!

  • Naked Without Polish

Ohhhhh that green!! It’s flawless! I always look forward to your swatches!

  • Too bad about them being sheer. I do like a fe colors also but agree that they aren’t really unique.

  • Ehmkay Nails

You and I have the same VNL issues. My nails are just too white that even though the polish is opaque, you still see it. But I still liked the three colors I tried

  • Tracey

These definitely have a summer vibe to them and flawlessly swatched too x

  • lacquerexpression

Gorgeous swatches, but I agree with you. This collection unfortunately did not speak to me.
