Alter Ego Body Care Products ~ Dog Shampoo and Bars

Something totally new for you all today! A few weeks ago I showed you 2 polishes from a new-to-me brand, Alter Ego. You can see that review here. She also sent me a dog shampoo and a dog shampoo bar to review. I’ve been using them for a bit on my dogs and I’m ready to share the results with you.

Alter Ego Dog Shampoo

When I first tried this shampoo I had this idea that I wanted some professional happy wet dog pictures. So I handed my husband my cell phone, grabbed a dog and sat down fully clothed in the bath tub. Well… one drenched tiffy, a cold wet dog, and a horse laughing husband later… the pictures were not at all what I imagined. After all, my life is not a petsmart commercial. But… I was very pleased with the shampoo. My precious old guy (who sadly has since passed away) had a long flowy white coat, and the difference between clean and really clean was very apparent with him! This shampoo lathered really well, smelled delicious, and rinsed out thoroughly with no residue left behind. It left my old man with a gorgeous flowy coat.

Hows that for a gorgeous white flowy coat? (Rest his soul)

PUPPegos Bar Shampoo

This time I had no grandiose ideas of photos so I grabbed the bar of soap, my smallest chihuahua and headed for the kitchen sink. I had never used a bar shampoo and had no idea what to expect, but I was so happy with how easy these were! I simply wet down my chihuahua and rubbed the bar right over his coat to create a nice lather. Honestly given how small the bars are I kind of expected one bar to get through 2 baths. Well I was pleasantly surprised to see that I used very little of it bathing the chi baby (about 9lbs.) I estimate I could easily get through 4-5 baths with one bar. Obviously thats going to vary given size of dog, length of hair, etc; but thats quite a lot of baths any way you look at it. The bar smelled wonderful and was so much neater and easier than a full size shampoo bottle. BTW, Have you ever tried squeezing shampoo into your hands while holding onto a squirmy, slippery dog? Yeah, nothing easy about it. So these were wonderful!

No long flowy hair so this picture simply shows that Wyatt still loved me after his bath. 🙂

Hope you found this review helpful! I would definitely recommend giving either or both of these a try. Available now on the Alter Ego website!

Until next time!

  • So sorry for the loss of your flowy white pup! He was very handsome!

I’ve used the dog shampoo on my pup for the last year or so, and I love it! Smells great and she’s very soft and fluffy. I need to try the shampoo bars too.

  • I love your fur babies! These sound awesome! Thanks for the review.

  • Ehmkay Nails

Great review! I don’t have any dogs, but I assume that shampoo bar with be so much easier than the bottled stuff!

  • Jen Sky Walker

My dog needs a bath, but I hate dealing with bottles, especially when he decides he does NOT want his bath! I think the shampoo bar may be the perfect solution!

  • Oh these sound great! I’ll have to order some to try out on my stinky pup Rocky. He’s not really stinky, but he’s definitely overdue for a bath 😉

  • Tracey
