The Digit-al Dozen does Books: Miss Tizzy

Hey guys! I’m back today with another Digital Dozen mani to show you all. If you’re just tuning in our theme this month is Books, and despite not reading a whole book in many many years I did manage to come up with 5 books that have meant something to me throughout my life. This one is near and dear to my heart, read on to find out more…

Miss Tizzy by Libba Moore Gray

Before she was Libba Moore Gray the author she was Libby Moore high school english teacher. My high school english teacher to be exact. She was a sweet and kind, yet very tough, teacher and I believe every student she had felt the care and compassion she held for everyone. After this one she went on to write quite a few more childrens books, but sadly a few years after I graduated she died from cancer. I can’t help but think that Miss Tizzy was her, a kind eccentric old soul.

For this mani I felt that representing the wildflower garden in Miss Tizzy’s backyard was the key, but I could not accomplish the eclectic feel with stamping so freehand it is. I started with a gradient of Zoya Josie and Sally Hansen Sky Blue, then started drawing on the wildflowers using acrylic paints. I wasn’t concerned with making them neat and clean, and just kind of went where the brush took me. Finally I added in Miss Tizzy’s purple hat with white feathers.
