Nail Art

Nail Art ~ Freehand is for the cows…

Last week in TRNA the technique challenge was freehand nail art. I’m not afraid to admit that freehand and I are not friends, after all stamping plates were made for a reason right? We were encouraged to try something simple, the only requirement being that a brush had to be used, not dotting tools. I like to stretch my nail art wings, so I decided to give it a try.

My first try was some zebra stripes on a triple gradient using Chick Pick Polish Neons. Oh how I wish I had taken a picture of this before I butchered it with my zebra stripes/blobs. 🙂

NAIL FAIL!

I certainly felt like giving up since I couldn’t even freehand some zebra stripes. But if there is one thing I am, it’s driven, and I don’t give up easily. A few nights later I was laying in bed and suddenly a light bulb came on, in my head of course. Right then I knew exactly what I wanted to do and knew I could do it! So I jumped out of bed and got right to it.

This was my end result…

I ended up quite happy with this mani and immediately submitted it for the technique challenge. Now I wish I could take credit for this idea, but it was inspired by the dozen or so cow spot mani’s on Pinterest. My part was just the polish and brushes, and trying to steady my hands, but I’m still pretty happy with it.

Note: I have collected cow figurines and decoration items for most of my life, so I clearly have a soft spot for the black & white MooMoo’s. 🙂

So what do you think? Do you like freehand nail art or do you mostly avoid it like myself? How do you like my Mr. MooMoo mani? 🙂

Until next time, stay polished!
