Starlight Polish Peppermints in the Parlor ~ February Polish Pickup

Happy Friday everybody! It is exactly one week till the February Polish Pickup now, and I have another beauty to show you all. I am in love with this polish! You may or may not be aware that there is a big push for a Books theme which so far hasn’t been chosen but there are a number of makers who are still finding inspiration in books, even for this months Sugar Rush! Ingenuity for the win, am I right? Makers never fail to impress me with their creativity! Today’s post features Starlight Polish Peppermints in the Parlor. Keep reading to find out more about her inspiration…

Starlight Polish Peppermints in the Parlor

Starlight and Sparkles’ February inspiration is peppermint, but it’s also a book (following Mardi’s brilliant example!) The name of the polish is Peppermints in the Parlor, and it’s named for one of the first books maker Issa ever checked out from the library and one she loves the most – it was suggested by one of the librarians in the children’s section. She checked out that one (and another recommendation) that day. After reading Mardi’s idea to do a sweet inspiration that was also a book, Peppermints in the Parlor immediately came to mind for Issa. She now owns it in Kindle form – she got it so that she could read it again before making this polish!

Peppermints in the Parlor is described as a translucent white jelly with white and red shimmer, translucent flakes that flash silver and red, and opaque flakes in both red and white. The polish base looks pale pink in some lights because of all the red shimmer, but if you look closely you can see that the base is actually white. It’s really quite beautiful, I would describe it as soft and delicate.

The formula was stellar. It brushes on smoothly and easily with virtually no need for clean up. It stays where you put it with no concern for flooded cuticles. The red specks are perfectly dispersed and lay flat on the nail. I used 3 thin coats for my swatches. Each coat dried quickly in under a minute. Sealed with glossy top coat.

Nail Art
Naturally I had to do some peppermint nail art on this. I used Sally Hansen Let’s Jam for the red stamping. Stamping plates used; Lina Can’t Wait for Xmas 02 for the candy canes and the peppermint candy image was on an unnamed plate (literally there are no markings whatsoever.) If you’re looking for a peppermint candy image though check out It Girl Nail Arts’ plate in the Polish Pickup. Reviewed here by Begin Nails.
