Joy Lacquers and The Rhinestone Housewife Jet City Burlesque Collection

Hi ladies! I have a fun collection to show you all today. This collection was a collaboration between Joy Lacquers and The Rhinestone Housewife. This collection was inspired by the Seattle burlesque scene that The Rhinestone Housewife was part of back in the day. In her words ~ “The burly-Q revival was fabulous and vibrant and I will always have fun remembering how we used to race from one gig to another on a Saturday night.” This collection, the she worked on with Joy Lacquer, came directly from her heart to share it with you.

Jet City Burlesque

TheRhinestoneHousewife.com is the dream child of retired burlesque performer, Hottie McNaughty. With a knack for finding great indie products and a love of enabling others all over the world it seemed quite logical to combine her talents into a super ecommerce store! Dedicated to bringing you amazing and unique products, you never know what you might find.

Joy Lacquer Boylesque
Joy Lacquer Boylesque

Boylesque is described as a soft khaki green with warm brown undertones and it applies like a dream. It’s both masculine and feminine at the same time, with a light green shimmer and flawlessly smooth finish. The formula was a little thicker on this one so needed a gentler hand to self level. This is 2 coats with glossy top coat.

Retail $11.50

Inspiration: Considered part of the Neo-Burlesque revival, boylesque is the term used to describe male performers in burlesque. While boylesque was not invented in Seattle, Seattle enjoys a vast variety of talented performers.

Hottie McNaughty is described as a fire-y tangerine crelly-like base. It’s scattered with orange and contrasting purple iridescent glitter ranging from medium to large sizes. The more subtle elements include blue, orange and gold microglitter shimmers, giving this crelly a fantastically cheerful finish. Formula was a little thick but not hard to work with. I applied 2 coats plus glossy top coat.

Retail $12.50

Inspiration: A local Seattle performer, Hottie has been described as the love child of Bugs Bunny and Carol Burnett. Hottie was known for using humor and ‘giving good face’ in her performances and performing to odd and unique music. One of her signature stage colors being orange, the polish was made to represent her.

There is a multitude of green/blue and turquoise holographic microglitter. It’s also lightly sprinkled with subtle pink/purple sparks, giving the jelly polish an astonishing depth. This is more sheer than the rest. I applied 3 thin coats and still have a visible nail line. Keep in mind though that my free edge is very opaque so you might be fine with 2-3 coats. Sealed with glossy top coat.
