TheRhinestoneHousewife.com is the dream child of retired burlesque performer, Hottie McNaughty. With a knack for finding great indie products and a love of enabling others all over the world it seemed quite logical to combine her talents into a super ecommerce store! Dedicated to bringing you amazing and unique products, you never know what you might find.
Joy Lacquer The Rhinestone Housewife
The Rhinestone Housewife is described as a raspberry color, the pink cousin of our luscious red Glitter Lips polish. It sparkles and shimmers with facets just like that of it’s namesake. Silver sparks with a chrome effects are scattered in with copious amounts of pink holographic microglitter in shades of magenta, punchy pink strawberry and bubblegum. This applied easily and smoothly. Opaque in 2 coats. Sealed with glossy top coat.
Inspiration: A tagline given to Hottie McNaughty, it embodies everything that Hottie stood for. A sparkly house with a quirky gem-of-a-hostess.
Joy Lacquer Boylesque
Boylesque is described as a soft khaki green with warm brown undertones and it applies like a dream. It’s both masculine and feminine at the same time, with a light green shimmer and flawlessly smooth finish. The formula was a little thicker on this one so needed a gentler hand to self level. This is 2 coats with glossy top coat.
Inspiration: Considered part of the Neo-Burlesque revival, boylesque is the term used to describe male performers in burlesque. While boylesque was not invented in Seattle, Seattle enjoys a vast variety of talented performers.
Joy Lacquer Glitter Lips
Glitter Lips is described as a bright candy apple nail color with shades of scarlet, maroon, crimson and vermilion red microglitter. This gorgeous red has a scattered holographic finish that works perfectly with it’s cranberry jelly-type base. Even with all the glitter this applied perfectly. I used 2 coats for my swatches, although there is still a faint free edge. Sealed with glossy top coat.
Inspiration: Red. Sparkly. Glamorous. A prerequisite of stage, the sexy look of red glitter lips is one of the most recognized elements of burlesque.
Joy Lacquer Pink Door
Pink Door is described as a baby pink creme, perfect as the ballet slipper it was inspired by. Soothing and pleasant, Pink Door has a true creme finish and is opaque in 1-2 coats. Sealed with glossy top coat.
Inspiration: Whether triple, colored or hidden, burlesque performances happen behind many different doors in the Seattle area.
Joy Lacquer Show at Midnight
Show at Midnight is described as a shimmering, deep navy with scattered holographic glitter and an ever-so-subtle lapis blue sparkle. It’s everything you’d imagine when envisioning the dimensionally deep sky and tiny far-off galaxies. This applied beautifully in 2 easy coats. Sealed with glossy top coat.
Inspiration: Burlesque being a slightly subversive form of entertainment, frequently shows were speak easy style and later in the evening. This polish is a salute to the midnight hour.
Joy Lacquer Hottie McNaughty
Hottie McNaughty is described as a fire-y tangerine crelly-like base. It’s scattered with orange and contrasting purple iridescent glitter ranging from medium to large sizes. The more subtle elements include blue, orange and gold microglitter shimmers, giving this crelly a fantastically cheerful finish. Formula was a little thick but not hard to work with. I applied 2 coats plus glossy top coat.
Inspiration: A local Seattle performer, Hottie has been described as the love child of Bugs Bunny and Carol Burnett. Hottie was known for using humor and ‘giving good face’ in her performances and performing to odd and unique music. One of her signature stage colors being orange, the polish was made to represent her.
Joy Lacquer Burly-Q
Burly-Q is described as a stunning jungle-green base and contains scattered multi-sized opalescent glitter in shades of blues and lime greens. There is a multitude of green/blue and turquoise holographic microglitter. It’s also lightly sprinkled with subtle pink/purple sparks, giving the jelly polish an astonishing depth. This is more sheer than the rest. I applied 3 thin coats and still have a visible nail line. Keep in mind though that my free edge is very opaque so you might be fine with 2-3 coats. Sealed with glossy top coat.
Inspiration: A nickname many performers use for burlesque.
Joy Lacquer Lost a Pastie!
Lost a Pastie! is described as a marvelous interpretation of nude encrusted with Swarovoski crystal. It’s packed with holographic silver and gold glitter that appeals to the sparkle fanatic in all of us. It also contains a range of ultra-luminous orange, pink, teal and purple opalescent glitters. The nude polish base contains a light blue flash that subtly complements the abundant glitter effects. Applied in 3 thin coats with glossy top coat. Formula is a little thicker due to all the glitter.
Inspiration: Equal parts titillating and horror inducing, losing a pastie happens. You never know when or where but it strikes terror in the hearts of club owners in the Seattle area due to liquor laws.
Joy Lacquer Neo-Burlesque
Neo-Burlesque, inspired by the Pantone Color of the Year, is described as an ultra-violet purple base and packed with gold/copper chrome micro-flecks. Scattered throughout is an ultra-fine holographic dust and electric blue flecks. The finish is smooth as butter and in the direct sun, you’ll see a beautiful linear holographic effect. One of the real standouts of this collection. Formula is buttery smooth and perfect in 2 coats. Dries to a semi matte finish. Topped with glossy top coat.
Inspiration: Neo-Burlesque is the revival of burlesque performance. Though based on the traditional Burlesque art, the new form encompasses a wider range of performance and neo-burlesque acts can range from classic striptease to modern dance to comedic and witty parody.
Joy Lacquer Stage Kitten
Stage Kitten is described as a warm taupe, almost leaning mauve. The color looks as soft as a kitten and it’s finish is a rich true creme, similar to the color of a perfect vanilla latte. Fantastic color! Formula is flawless and opaque in 2 easy coats. Sealed with glossy top coat.
Inspiration: This is the term used for the stage assistants that are responsible for gathering the performers garments after they strip out of them. The true unsung heroes of burlesque!
